Promise Campaign reaches $5 million base goal
Sister Gretchen Kunz, OSF, President/CEO of St. Joseph Health System has announced that The Promise Campaign has reached its base goal of $5 million. During the Blessing and Dedication Ceremony of the new Tower addition to St. Joseph Regional Health Center, Sister Gretchen made the surprise campaign announcement. "Due to the dedicated efforts of our campaign leadership and the generosity of the Brazos Valley community, I am extremely pleased to announce that our capital campaign has exceeded our base goal of $5 million. This multi-year, fund raising success story has been a "labor of love" and our ability to achieve this milestone is due to the many individuals who have dedicated thousands of volunteer hours and made significant contributions to this effort." 
In addition, Campaign Chairs, Fain and Janie McDougal announced that Mrs. Sue Lee, Honorary Chair for The Promise Campaign, has issued a $500,000 challenge commitment to the campaign. According to the terms of the challenge, Mrs. Lee, has agreed to match every additional gift to the campaign above the base goal, dollar for dollar, up to the maximum of $500,000. Mrs. Lee stated, "It is my family's hope that this additional gift to the campaign will encourage other individuals and businesses in the community to come forward and help us reach the campaign challenge goal of $7.5 million." The cornerstone gift for the campaign was contributed by Mrs. Sue Lee and her Family in memory of husband/father, Dr. J.C. Lee. Dr. Lee practiced medicine in the Brazos Valley for 23 years and was the Chief Pathologist for St. Joseph Regional Health Center during that time. The J.C. Lee, MD Pavilion of the St. Joseph Regional Cancer Center was named in honor of Dr. Lee in June, 2003.
